Birthday Bowling Party : pics

Last sunday we went on a Birthday Bowling Party
because my uncle turned 70. We were with quite
a group : twelve in total, and everyone wanted their
group to win ! There will be more photographs,
but for the time being you will have to do with these,
not all flattering, photographs :)

Mah-Jong

One of our family's favorite pastimes is playing Mah-Jong.
We like it that much that my cousin Joost has organised a
family tournament the past two years.



Joost is on the photograph underneath.



Last year we had over twenty participants, all familymembers !
We hope that Joost is willing to organise another tournament.
You can see on the photographs that we are having a areally good time.

Casablanca

Last week we saw the film Casablanca.

Black-and-white loveliness, *sigh*.

So romantic it is, a bit overacted, but

still one of my all time favorite films.

And what a coincidence : one of my

all time favorite UM stamp sheets is

the sheet Casablanca by Oxford Impressions.

I must make some new things with that

sheet so that i can show you some of it.

I've had that sheet for years (it was

one of the first i bought) and im still

very happy with it. For now i shall show

you two things that ive made when i just

bought the sheet, from 2003.

Birthday Bowling Party

My uncle turned 70 almost two weeks ago and in
honour of that we are going on a Birthday Bowling Party.

We are going to be with my aunt and uncle,
their daughter and husband and their three
boys in their teens, my parents, my sister and
her boyfriend and myself. It is going to be so
much fun ! We all like bowling and we like to
compete, so it is going to be a heated afternoon.

Walong : Dim Sum

Yesterday i took my parents to Walong for a
Dim Sum lunch. They had never been there
before but liked it very much, yay :)



We had Dim Sum menu B, the one Jenifer and
i always take, so that you have a little bit of
everything to get to know the different tastes.

My Crafty Family : Part I

I come from an extremely talented family.
There are only a few who are not writing
poetry, painting or playing an instrument.
In this post i want to introduce three women :
my mum, my sister and my aunt.

My mum made a huge (A3) drawing of the
house my parents live in and used that as
a basis for the annual Christmas card :



My sister made Halloween cards with plastic sheets
and glasspaint, lovely to put in front of a window
or a candle. I was lucky enough to recieve two :



My aunt made a lovely aquarel-painting that she
photographed and also made into a Christmas card :



And last but not least a small bonus : my
father has always liked to make photographs
and he used to have a dark room where he
developed his own photo's. From that period
is this Christmas card, my dad, my mum and
me, and my sister in my mum's tummy.

Crochet for baby Bente

A while ago, i was very busy working on a special
project : i made a crocheted baby blanket.
The blanket was made out of baby-merino-wool
in the colours pink, aqua and light yellow.
The pattern was a traditional granny pattern.

You can see it in the middle of a pile of presents
Maria recieved for Bente on her babyshower :)



And the picture on the right is me with baby Bente,

alas, she does not seem to be very happy with her blanky :(

A crafter's natural habitat

The Crafter has a few natural habitats : their own
crafting room (lucky Crafter !), the dining table,
the kitchen table and ofcourse : The Scrapbook Store.

Here are some photographs of Corien, myself and
some other Crafters at work in the workshop-space
at Corien's scrapbook store. As you can see we look
totally at ease in our natural habitat !

Stitch 'n Bitch Cafe Delft

Today, Jenifer and i will attend a Stitch 'n Bitch
evening in Delft. http://snbdelft.hyves.nl/ This
will be very exciting because Jenifer does not
yet know how to knit. But i am sure she will pick
up how to knit very fast because she is really crafty :)

I shall be taking my almost-ready pink sock, and
hope to have it finished by the time we leave the
cafe where the meetings are held. If not ... there
will be another day tomorrow !

ATC's

My love for Artist Trading Cards awoke years and
years ago. Before "everyone" started to make them,
Corien and i were already creating them. We started
to give workshops on how to make them before
anyone else in The Netherlands was doing that.
I know it is a bold statement, but it is true.

When Stampington and Co. published the book
beneath, i was delighted, because it is such a
lovely publication.



I shall post a few of my ATC's here, there will
be lots more following, that you can be sure of :)





Plus i shall post the cover of the file i am currently
collecting my own ATC's in. It has been made of
various sheets of scrapbookpaper and scrapbookvellum.

Socks

My first sock is finished !! It is totally true what they say :
once you have done one, it is much easier than you thought
before you began. My mum agrees with me on that point.
I started my first sock togehter with my mum, to make
it a group effort so to speak. To celebrate the fact that the
knitting went quite smoothly, i bought some PINK sock-wool
at Wolgaarde in Delft from Lanagrossa :

to knit a pair for myself. I first have to get some more
experience to begin knitting for others, hehe.

My mum has started boldly on a pair for my dad :)
We used the book above to learn how to knit socks, and
the explanation was not too difficult, but we still had to
read and re-read some of the lines. But for those who have
not knitted socks before it is surely a good starting point.

Frank is Fourty

This saturday there is to be held a party for
my friend Jenifer's boyfriend Frank. He has
made it to the big four-oh ! Congratulations :)
To celebrate this fact, i shall post the sweetest
picture i have of him :

Walong

There is a restaurant in The Hague called Walong.

It is one of my favorite restaurants and it's THE

place where my long time (15 years !) friend Jenifer

and i usually go to have a good time together.

The food is great here, we usually take a Dim Sum

menu, with a variety of steamed and fried Dim Sum.

If you are ever in the vicinity you'd better go there

and have a taste yourself !
