Delight in the details

As with so many things, detail is everything, it gives
your creation its finishing touch. Think how boring
your creations would look without these details, even
without the small imperfections they might have. It
is exactly those details and imperfections that give
"life" to your work

New year, new shoes

With a new edition of the Nijmegen Four Days Marches
coming up in july, i have bought new shoes. With all the
training and the marches itself, i use one pair of walking
shoes per walking season. After that they are worn out
for training but they are still usable for normal use.

As i was getting more and more unsatisfied with the
shoes i have been using for the past years i swapped
brands and am now using Adidas Response Walk GTX's.
I am very pleased with them. My old shoes lacked
impact reduction which lead to very sore feet at the
end of the marches. The shoes i have now are so
well cushioned that it feels like i am walking on air
pockets. I expect to have tired feet at the end of
the marches, but i also expect them not to be as sore
are i have gotten used to over the years.

A new pair

I have been knitting a new pair of tøfler in some nice
warm colours. I used a sort of very lightly twined
nature wool and as a result the tøfler have been
felted beautifully and have become really thick, soft
and fluffy. They will be lovely to wear in the winter.

Inspiration Book

My old inspiration book has been so full that it is almost
bursting out of its seams, so therefor i have begon a new
one. It is still very empty and not very exciting to look
at but it will be filled up soon enough with all kinds of
interesting pictures of crafts, inspiring pictures or fun
patterns or colour cobinations. Here are some of the
pages as they are looking right now :

Memory Capsules

I think most of us know the fun Memory Capsules. There
is one thing that is not that much fun about them though ;
they are quite pricey. That in combination with the never
ceasing stream of packaging that finds its way into our
houses, lead me to this : make your own Memory Capsules
out of plastic packaging materials. Okay, they might not
be as practical as the bought variety (sizes vary for
example) but they are free and you are helping save
the environment at the same time. So here is the first
example i made and there will be following more posts
as i already have been saving a lot of packaging
material that is suitable to make Memory Capsules
out of.

Not a new bird ...

... but something i had not seen before. I saw a Nothern
Lapwing (Vanellus Vanellus/Kievit/Vipe) standing in a field.
That in itself is not very exciting, but when i looked a little
closer i saw that the bird was standing next to its mate that
was sitting on their nest. Normally the nests and the
brooding birds are very well hidden and not to be found
unless you almost have stepped on them, but not this
pair and their eggs. It must be because the nest was
in a quiet piece of land where there were no sheep or
other animals grazing.

If you want to learn more about the Lapwing you can

Look what else i got !

A gorgeous necklace in Dutch colours (red, white, blue and
orange) handmade by my friend Jenifer. She is so crafty !
I am very happy with it and wear it with pride on all the
important Dutch remembrance days and festivities :)
