Knit in public, June 8th to16th

World Wide Knit in Public Day was started in 2005
by Danielle Landes and takes place on the second
Saturday of June each year. It began as a way for
knitters to come together and enjoy each other's company.
Knit in Public Day is unique, in that it's the largest knitter
run event in the world. Each local event is put together
by a volunteer or a group of volunteers. They each
organize an event because they want to, not because
they have to. They bring their own fresh ideas into
planning where the event should be held, and what
people would like to do. In the past some people have
used this event as a means to show the general public
that ‘not only grannies knit!’. Knit in Public Day is
really about showing the general public that knitting
can be a community activity in a very distinct way.

Cards : Spot the differences

There really are small differences :) This is a really great
way to get rid of even the smallest scraps of paper and
the results make very nice cards for summer-birthdays
and parties. Also, you can do the cutting of the triangles
while enjoying an afternoon in the garden.

Books : mystery and thriller month

June is mystery and thriller month. This year i am
reading Killing I and i got the VN Detective and
Thriller guide to help me look for other titles that
might be intersting for me. Yay for reading !

Bird

Recently, i have seen this bird for the second time in
my life. This bird called Putter (European Goldfinch /
Stillits). It is a beautiful, colourful bird that usually
lives in the woods, therefor it is unusual to meet it
in towns and cities.

Lunch at Walong

My best friend Jenifer celebrated her birthday
a few weeks ago and my present to her was me
buying us lunch at restaurant Walong, the best
Dim Sum restaurant in the area. The food was
great and we had lots of fun !

Grunge Daisies

This craft is one you either can do with circles cut out of
scraps of paper or with circles cut out of "new" paper.
One thing i found is that the daisies become prettier when
you use a thicker sort of paper of a light cardstock. You can
choose to add glitter (glue) to the edges of the flowerpetals or
not. In my opinion the flowerhearts become nicest when using
buttons, i found the use of brads less interesting. All this
is determined by taste of course.
