Happy birthday !

Happy Birthday to our Queen Beatrix, who is celebrating
her last birthday as Queen today. A few days ago she
announced her abdication the upcoming 30th of april.
From that date on we will have a King, Willem Alexander.
The Netherlands have not had a King since 1890, only
Queens, so it is quite special.

I made these hearts for someone i know who is going
to have a baby. The colours in the nursery are going to
be white and grey, so i hope these will fit in nicely :)

Something interesting

The Common Pheasant (fazant / fasan), is a bird in the pheasant family
It is native to Asia and has been widely introduced elsewhere as a game
bird. In parts of its range, namely in places where none of its relatives
occur such as in Europe, it is simply known as the "pheasant". The word
pheasant is derived from the ancient town of Phasis.
A while ago i saw some of them sitting in trees and then found out on
the internet that they actually go up in the trees every evening, just like
chickens go sit on their perches at night,how interesting !

A heart to remember

Someone i know lots their cat Vlekkie yesterday. Vlekkie went
out onto the ice, went through and drowned. It was a sad day.
The twin sister of the person i know, contacted me and asked
me to make a remembrance heart, and so i did.

Cake for Frank

Jenifer and i made this cake for Frank's 45th birthday
today. Frank is my friend Jenifer's boyfriend. It was about
20 cms high, with yellow cream in between the layers, covered
with buttercream and marzipan and decorated with marzipan.

I knitted this dark blue hat for Frank's birthday.
It is real wool so it is nice and warm.

Nisseloftet

One of my favorite places to be is Byrkjedalstunet where they
have the cosiest of restaurants and a fantastic store with a loft
filled with santas, all year round, called Nisseloftet.
