Arne & Carlos in Delft !

Arne & Carlos, the norwegian knitting guru's,
will be visiting Delft today, and i will be
meeting them ! My mother and i will be going
to the bookstore where they will be telling us
a bit more about their newest book and they
will be signing books aswell. Exciting !

Meikoningin Designs

I have a new webpage called Meikoningin Designs, which
features decorations that i have made and that are for sale.
This is something that i have been wanting to do for a long
time, but now the possibility has arisen to do so in a
professional way. At this moment there are only fabric heart
decorations available, but soon there will be other items
there as well.

My mother paints

My mother is an accomplished painter and her
most recent painting is this one. We call it :
"het huwelijksbootje" (the wedding ship).
There is a saying in dutch "in het huwelijksbootje
stappen", which translates literally into "getting
into the wedding ship". This saying says
something about how people might look at
getting married : they might be scared because
of the rocky ride the ship might experience in the
future. Anyway, my mother painted this and my
parents used a photograph of it on the front of
the invitations they made for their 40th wedding
anniversary celebrations.

My uncle does crossstitch

My uncle used to crossstitch a lot, but these days he
is also doing a lot of crochet. But in my parent's
house there is still a lot of crossstitch to be seen.

Happy anniversary !

It is my parent's 40th wedding anniversary today, i think
it is wonderful that they have stuck together through
thick and thin and made it all the way to this day !
 
And of course i had to make some hearts ;)

My crafty family : my aunt paints

My aunt is an accomplished painter and there are several
of her paintings to be found in my parent's house. Before
she started painting with watercolours, she used to paint
folk art-style, as is to be seen on this can below.

My aunt and uncle invited me
to dinner again so i made them
another heart

A knitted cowl

I knitted this cowl on a round needle. Because of
the round needle you can knit all the way, no purling
needed. When the tube you knitted is big enough,
you close the ends and sew them together. Easy !

Four Day Marches photo and card

This photograph was taken on the last day of the
marches after we were done walking.

Knitted for autumn

I knitted this person-sized blanket out of Zeeman tweed yarn.
It has become really nice and warm and soft and although i
am happy that the weather is really warm and summery, i am
looking forward to the autumn aswell.

Happy birthday !

Maureen and Tom celebrated their birthdays on
wednesday and to add a bit of colour to the bought
presents for them, i made these hearts in the colours
of their shockingly bright, downstairs kitchen.

Welcome home !

I am very glad and thankful that my friends Frank
and Jenifer and their three children have returned
safely from a five week tour through the USA. They
have had a great time and i think it is fantastic that
they have given their children the opportunity to
experience something as great as this. I made these
two hearts for Jenifer as a welcome back present.
