Altered Mini Jars

I altered these tiny daycream jars into Jars-'o-Hugs
using two sorts of scrap cloth and ribbon. Inside the jars
i crumpled up red silkpaper for colour. I then attached
small folded cards with a message for the recipient.

In This House : Beach Road 21

The Muir family lives in the newest house in Beach Road.
The head of the family, Mister Muir, built it because he loved
the sea and its seagulls so much. Every day he used to go
to the sea to look at the waves and feed the birds. After many
years, in which he enjoyed living near the seaside, Mister Muir
died. His family is sad that they have to miss his company, but
they are thankful that he lived a full and happy life and died
when he was an old man. They never felt he really left them
because the whole family shares the passion he had for the sea
and the birds. Sometimes when the weather is at its worst, the
Muir familymembers could swear they can see Mister Muir
on the beach, feeding the birds. Is he still lingering there or
is it just the weather playing tricks on their eyes ?

In This House : Forest End 2

Forest End 2 looks more like a cabin than a real house.
It is old, it is not big and it could use some paint on its
wood. But the girl that lives there does not mind. She
can be found more often in her greenhouse than in the
cabin. She loves to work with her plants and is a proud
member of the biological society. (Link here :
http://creations-blog.blogspot.com/2009/06/19-jun.html)
She has plants from all over the world but likes the ones
that grow near Coneberry Village the best. She is often
joined in her greenhouse by Mister Rowe and it is said
by the other villagers that there is something more
than plants blooming in the Forest End.

In This House : Market Street 4

It is summer in Coneberry Village, the sun is shining,
birds are singing and insects are buzzing. The children
of Coneberry Village are playing to their heart's desire
and a general feeling of glee has sunken down on the
village. Some of the inhabitants have gone on holiday,
but most villagers stay in town, even when they are
free. So too is Iris. She spends her days in the local
bookstore that is located on Market Street 4. Sometimes
people ask her why she does not travel outside the
village and then she always answers : "Why travel
far and wide, when you can travel right here, by book ?"
Today she will be travelling to Egypt, reading a book
on pyramids and hieroglyphs, and tomorrow ... ?

In This House : Chapel Road 24

If you would pass Chapel Road 24 in the yuletide,
you would almost be certain that Father Christmas
himself lives there. The house is decorated so beautifully
that you need to stop and look at it and in the front garden
there is the prettiest Christmas Tree you have ever seen.
It is decorated so lavishly that you can look at it as often
as you like and see something new each time. The children
of Coneberry Village say that it is a magical Christmas Tree
because every single one of them gets to retrieve a present
from underneath it every year and they always get that
what they want most.

In This House : Baker Street 2

Captain Jack is the owner of Baker Street 2, although he is
seldom there. He used to be there much more often some years
ago, but now it is only his housholding staff that lives there
permanently. He stopped coming home regularly after he
had The Dream, or was it real ? Even now he is not sure
what exactly happened, the only thing he is sure of, is that
he has to look for her, the mermaid that stole his heart and
who lives in the deep blue sea. He could not stay on the
mainland for he needed to look for her, and still does so. He
has seen her, his life's muse, many times after he started
looking for her, but he has never been close enough to her to take
her hand and tell her his heart's desire, to be together forever.

In This House : Market Street 1

Market Street 1 houses a happy shop. It is the shop
of Bea (she never did like her official name Beatrice)
and she sells wedding dresses. Bea has designed or altered
almost every wedding dress that has been used in
Coneberry's White Chapel. She is so well known for her
beautiful dresses that brides from all over the country
come to visit her shop and leave more happy than ever,
having found the perfect dress for the most important
day of their lives. Ironically, Bea has never gotten married
herself, she is waiting for Mister Right. Maybe she should
check the telephone catalogue under the "R"...

In This House : Ocean View 1

Ocean View 1 is a house with many inhabitants. Here live
the Renard family of eight, Mother, Father and their six
daughters. They have their origins in France where
the forefathers of Mister Renard used to own an enormous
castle by the seaside. With the castle went a piece of beach
you can only dream about : soft sand, lots of shells to collect
and driftwood in all shapes and sizes. It is no wonder that
the Renards have this "thing" for the sea and the beach.
You can see the whole family on their bikes every
opportunity they have to spend time together in the warm
sand of Coneberry Village's beach. They always have big
hampers with all kinds of food and drink. Especially Olivia
has the time of her life at the beach.

In This House : The Sandy Lane 18

Years ago there was a girl that lived in The Sandy Lane
number 18. She used to go outside when it rained and
take a walk whilst listening to the sound of the rain on
her umbrella. One rainy day she went out for a stroll
but never returned to her parents' house. Whatever
happened to her ? Did she get lost in the woods, or lured
away by pixies ? What do you think ?

Altered Book : France

You can not see them, but they are really there, the
gargoyles on the french castles and churches. Maybe
you can get a glimpse of them after sundown, when
they move around on the rooftops to talk to their
fellow statues.

A gargoyle is a carved stone grotesque with a spout
designed to convey water from a roof and away from
the side of a building. The term originates from the french
gargouille, originally "throat" or "gullet". A chimera or a
grotesque figure, is a sculpture that does not work as a
waterspout and serves only an ornamental or artistic
function. These are also usually called gargoyles in
laymen's terminology, although the field of architecture
usually preserves the distinction between gargoyles
(functional waterspouts) and non-waterspout grotesques.
