Julemarked
Last saturday we went to visit the Norwegian Christmas Fair, julemarked,
at the Norwegian Church Abroad : Sjømannskirken. The Norwegian
Church Abroad is a religious organisation serving Norwegians
and other Scandinavians travelling abroad. Founded in 1864 the
church was established to secure the moral and religious education
of Scandinavian seafarers, but also to give them a breathing room
where a fellow countryman was available to lend an ear and give
some attention. Today, the churches and their staff together with
travelling pastors around the globe represent a resource center
for all Norwegians travelling internationally. Sjømannskirken
annually serves around 700.000 Norwegians through over
thirty churches and sixteen mobile services in thirty countries around
the world and one of them can be found in Rotterdam. The julemarked
was our first taste of Christmas for this year. Last year in november i
had a really nice taste of Christmas in Kopenhagen, which was a lot
of fun too.
